Louisiana Information Sources: A Guide

Research tools for finding historical and current newspapers, journals, media, and information about Louisiana

Intro

This section offers extensive resources to locate and access historical Louisiana newspapers (19th century-present), from text-searchable databases to lists and guides to newspapers in print and on microfilm.

For historical U.S. and world newspapers not published in Louisiana, but which covered Louisiana news, see the News & Newspapers Library Guide.

Times-Picayune

There are 3 platforms to access the Times-Picayune, formerly The Picayune and Daily Picayune. The Newsbank/Readex platform has all issues and years. If you want to test out different search interfaces and filtering options for the 19th-century Daily Picayune, try the Proquest and Gale platforms.
