Faculty Orientation to Tulane University Libraries (TUL)

Scholarly Engagement

The Scholarly Engagement Department provides expertise and support in the discovery, use, interpretation, and evaluation of information resources through instruction and outreach for Tulane’s uptown campus and the School of Social Work on the downtown campus.

Located in the Knowledge Lab (Howard-Tilton Memorial Library 2nd Floor Stacks) and Media Services (Howard-Tilton Memorial Library 6th Floor), the Scholarly Engagement Department includes a team of experts across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences and engineering.

Whether you would like assistance with materials for your own research, a session for your students, help designing an assignment or a course, or more, we’re here to help you meet your goals.

Request Instruction

We teach a wide range of sessions that cover topics such as:

  • Finding, evaluating, and citing sources and datasets
  • Accessing and using Tulane University Special Collections
  • Creating and designing presentations, data visualizations, zines, and more
  • Using tools such as LabArchives, Wikipedia, Zotero, TimelineJS, etc.

We’ll work with you to develop customized instruction tailored to your objectives. We offer multiple methods for bringing library instruction into your course, including live via Zoom, recorded videos, and other integrated options in single sessions or over multiple meetings. Please note - we request two weeks lead time for preparation.
