Faculty Orientation to Tulane University Libraries (TUL)

Instruction at Matas Library

Learn the information skills needed for finding, retrieving, evaluating and (ethically) using  the best evidence with the Rudolph Matas Library of the Health Sciences! The Matas Library provides a wide array of information-related educational services in a library setting to Tulane University’s School of Medicine, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and Tulane National Primate Research Center.

Information skill development instruction can be requested for consultations, classes, faculty meetings, or any group in the Tulane Health Sciences community.

The information skills required for scholarly communication are taught in a variety of formats: in-person (in the library or your own classroom) and online (synchronous or asynchronous) in various formats:  tutorials, workshops, departmental professional development, library guides, or embedded services designed to meet the learning objectives for your course or personal needs. Contact the Matas Library at medref@tulane.edu or (504) 988-5155 to schedule an instruction session.

Librarians will work with you to customize instruction. Commonly requested topics include:

  • Matas Library orientation for new health sciences students/faculty/staff
  • Literature search skills for a variety of databases
  • Citation management
  • Data management
  • Clinical decision support resources
