Promotional Videos
We offer creation of promotional video content highlighting various topics such as collections, people, events, and services. We will consult with you to create a plan and schedule for any filming/editing needed. Promos can be formatted for widescreen or vertical video.
Tutorial Videos
We can provide editing services to create tutorial videos using your screen recorded content. We can also record in-person tutorials or workshops. Additional assets can include titles, graphics, and music.
Speaker Event Recording
We can film in-person library-related speaker events. We can provide up to 2 handheld wireless microphones or up to 6 lavalier microphones. A portable public address (PA) system for small to medium audiences (up to 200) can also be provided. We can also record speaker events for other campus departments on the condition that the recording be archived in the Tulane University Digital Library and the library YouTube channel. Speakers must agree to sign a release form beforehand.
Interviews
We can film and edit in-person interviews for the Tulane University Digital Repository with provided microphones or edit pre-recorded (Zoom) interviews.
Video Tours
We offer video tour creation services that can help others envision departments, workspaces, or public areas. This can be in the form of video walkthroughs or an edited compilation of images and supplemental footage. Enhancements such as titles, voiceover, and music can be added as well. Tours can be created for internal use with the option to create a public-facing version.
VHS Digitization
We provide VHS digitization in service of the Tulane University Digital Repository. DSI can digitize VHS tapes in H.264 video format as an mp4 file with a resolution of 640x480.
Voice-over Recording Station
We provide access by appointment to a private audio recording station on the 6th floor with a premium USB microphone for recording voice-overs or narrations for your audiovisual projects using Adobe Audition software.
Transcription / Captioning
We can create transcripts and closed captions for Tulane University Libraries audiovisual content. (See Accessibility Services page for more information)
To request AV services for Tulane University Libraries' projects, you'll first need to submit an Audiovisual Services Request Form online. You'll be able to describe your project and select from the various services available. There is also a Box link in the form where you can upload files for editing or project-related files.
We will contact you to establish a plan for your project as well as a timeline for completion. Please submit your request as early as possible. Depending on the extent of services needed, projects can take 1 to 4 weeks to complete.
If you are requesting access to the voice-over recording station we will contact you about arranging an appointment. Please either bring your own headphones or check one out from Media Services when arriving.
Anyone who is featured in a video (including narration) will need to complete an online release form before your video is published. Speaker events will not be recorded without a signed release form.
These release form guidelines were developed by the Office of General Counsel.
To request VHS digitization services please submit a VHS Digitization Request Form online. We can typically digitize a single tape within 2 days after submission. Multiple tapes will require a longer processing time.
Once your project is completed it will go through the publishing process on YouTube and/or TUDL. A thumbnail will be created to go along with the video. All videos published on YouTube and TUDL will be required to include the Tulane University Libraries logo at the start of the video and end credits acknowledging everyone who contributed to the project. An end screen for the YouTube channel will also be added to all YouTube videos. You will be asked to provide a video description for the viewing public.
You can schedule your video to go public on YouTube for a certain date if desired. We can provide you with a private link until the release is public. Once the video is public, an announcement to the H-TML listserv will be made.
