Social Science & Humanities Research Poster Design

This guide was designed to assist social science and humanities students creating research posters. Feel free to contact scholarlyengagement@tulane.edu with any questions or suggestions.

Poster Creation Tools

The following tools can be used to create posters. The common research poster size is 48in (width) by 36in (length) with a landscape orientation.

Adobe IllustratorDownload Adobe Illustrator Logo in SVG Vector or PNG File Format - Logo.wine

Adobe Illustrator can be used to create dynamic graphics for your poster. Check out their site for more information. If you are not familiar with the Adobe suite, you may be interested in another visualization option. Adobe Creative Cloud can be accessed by faculty and staff. Students may access the Adobe Creative Cloud on a Tulane-owned computer.


PowerPointDownload Microsoft PowerPoint Logo in SVG Vector or PNG File Format - Logo .wine

PowerPoint is offered through the Microsoft Office suite. While the program is commonly used for presentation design, you can create graphics as well. Tulane affiliates by download and use PowerPoint and other Microsoft tools by visiting the following website: Office 365 | Information Technology as (tulane.edu)


CanvaCanva Logo PNG Vector (SVG) Free Download

Canva is an online platform that allows you to create flyers, infographics, and other visual media including graphs and charts. Canva offers a free version, but some needed features may require a Canva subscription.

 

 


BioRender (Access for Tulane Affiliates end July 2024)See the source image

Though traditionally used in the context of science, BioRender is a great tool for creating a research poster. They even have Tulane-branded templates for you to use. Use the following instructions to access BioRender as a Tulane affiliate. You must create an account before accessing the templates.
