A word or two about social media...

A company's social media presence can give insight into their current activities and future plans. Take a look at the LinkedIn profiles of employees; they often contain detailed descriptions of the individual's projects, client list, management responsibilities, and more. Facebook and Twitter pages often show what products and services a company is emphasizing, and they can also expose, to a certain extent, consumer sentiment about the company (keep in mind that not all customers vent their pleasure or displeasure via social media, though.)

Job postings can give you a glimpse at what a company's future plans might be. Take a look at job postings on the company website and on other outlets, including LinkedIn. These might indicate things like expansion plans or emphasis on a new line of business.
