The URL opens to the World Newspaper Archive's search page for the combined Latin American Newspapers Series 1 & 2 gateway page. Series 1 includes more than 35 nineteenth- and twentieth-century Latin American newspapers, featuring titles from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela and elsewhere Series 2 features over 250 Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Latin American Newspapers. Hispanic Life in America This link opens in a new window
Hispanic Life in America is designed to help researchers surface newspaper articles on varied elements of the Hispanic American experience from the Spanish colonial era until today. The database draws on nearly 17,500 American and global newspapers, including almost 450 Hispanic American newspapers. Provides full-text searching as well as access to content by Topic, Event, and Eras in Hispanic American History. Tulane's subscription includes Series 1 (1704-1942) and Series 3 (2010-today).

CRL has hundreds of historical newspapers from around the world available in microfilm and digital form. You'll find selections from every country of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as Spain and Portugal. Tulane affiliates can request microfilm OR digitization-on-demand via Interlibrary Loan. Rare Newspapers at The Latin American Library
The Latin American Library has extensive holdings of rare printed newspapers from 22 countries (c. 18th century-1930s). This inventory includes printed newspaper holdings from each country housed in the Library's Rare and Closed Stacks locations. This inventory will be updated periodically when new titles are added. Email LAL@tulane.edu to set up an appointment to consult rare newspapers.

This list includes the LASER (Latin America South East Region) member libraries’ combined holdings of Latin American and Caribbean newspapers. A newspaper is listed only where a five-year run of the title is held by any of the libraries, where the title is a current subscription, or where the newspaper has a web version. Argentine Theater & Literary Periodicals
This unique collection housed at the Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut (Berlin) is dedicated to a type of small-format periodical, containing plays, short novels and other literary texts, which used to be very popular in the Río de la Plata region during the first half of the 20th century. Besides the well-known and widely-published titles La novela semanal (1917-54), La escena (1918-33) and Bambalinas (1918-34), the collection includes numerous periodicals with a more limited circulation.

Diario de Pernambuco
The Diario de Pernambuco is acknowledged as the oldest newspaper in circulation in Latin America. The issues from 1825-1923 offer insights into early Brazilian commerce, social affairs, politics, family life, slavery, and such. Published in the port of Recife.

Eighteenth Century Journals This link opens in a new window
Contains some historical 18th century colonial newspapers from Bermuda & Jamaica. Includes rare journals printed between 1685 and 1835, illuminating all aspects of eighteenth-century social, political and literary life. Many are ephemeral, lasting only for a handful of issues, others run for several years. Topics covered include: colonial life; provincial and rural affairs; the French and American revolutions; reviews of literature and fashion throughout Europe; political debates; and London coffee house gossip and discussion.

Central American Broadsides
This collection features broadsides from the Kenneth Spencer Research Library's William J. Griffith Collection of Guatemala and Central America. Dating from the 1820s to 1922, the broadsides are primarily Guatemalan, with a smaller number from Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. Many pertain to national and local politics and include election materials, political manifestos, and government pronouncements.

Cuban Heritage Collection Periodicals
The Cuban Heritage Collection (CHC) includes thousands of titles of journals, newspapers, magazines, and newsletters published both in and outside Cuba, from colonial times to the present. The digital collection of CHC Periodicals focuses primarily on works published before 1923 that are most unique to their holdings.

Independent & Revolutionary Mexican Newspapers

Gaceta de Puerto Rico
La Gaceta was the official newspaper of the Spanish government in Puerto Rico. This collection includes digitized issues from 1836 to 1902.
La Correspondencia
La Correspondencia de Puerto Rico, a reflection of La Correspondencia de España, was founded by Ramón B. López in San Juan on December 18, 1890. Priced at one cent, it appealed to the general public and quickly became the largest circulating daily newspaper in Puerto Rico with a print run of 5,000 copies a day. This digital collection includes issues from 1890 to 1910.
La Democracia
La Democracia, founded and published by the Puerto Rican poet, journalist and politician Luis Muñoz Rivera, was first published in Ponce in 1890. The newspaper supported Puerto Rico's liberal Autonomist Party, which sought broader rights under the Spanish Crown. This collection includes digitized issues from 1891 to 1907.

Newspapers and news pamphlets gathered by the Reverend Charles Burney (1757 - 1817) that represent the largest single collection of 17th and 18th century English news media. Published mostly in London, however some English provincial, Irish and Scottish papers, and the American colonies, Europe, and India are represented.

Sourced from the extensive holdings of the British Library, British Library Newspapers delivers a wide range of local and regional voices to reflect the social, political, and cultural events of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Palante
Palante (1970 - 1976) was a bilingual newspaper published by the Young Lords Party in New York City. Palante focused on the Puerto Rican independence movement, the oppression of Puerto Ricans and other Latinos in the United States, and global struggles for liberation.
