Online news and Newspapers available from Tulane Libraries

Intro

Tulane University Libraries (TUL) provides New York Times access to current Tulane affiliates through:

  1. NYTimes Academic Pass, which allows you to log into nytimes.com and NYTimes apps for free
  2. Multiple databases that include NYTimes content and are designed for research purposes: Proquest Recent Newspapers, Proquest Historical Newspapers, NexisUni, and Factiva

NYTimes.com and App Access - Academic Pass

To create and access your Academic Pass to NYTimes.com:

  1. Go to nytimes.com/passes
  2. Create a free NYTimes.com account using your Tulane email (tulane.edu) address.  If you already have an NYTimes.com account using your Tulane email address, you may log in with those credentials.
  3. You have successfully claimed a Pass when you see the Start Your Access screen
  4. Now you can enjoy seamless full access to NYTimes.com, INYT.com, and NYT mobile apps by logging into your NYTimes.com account from any location, on or off campus.
  5. Download NYTimes.com mobile apps at nytimes.com/mobile
  6. Once registered, faculty/staff have 4 years of full account access, after which they must re-authenticate by visiting nytimes.com/passes. Students continue to have access until 12/31 of the graduation year they chose.

To renew your Academic Pass:

  1. Visit nytimes.com/passes
  2. Log into your NYTimes.com account.
  3. Check your email for a renewal confirmation with additional information and a verification link.
  4. You have successfully claimed a Pass when you see the Start Your Access screen.

 Once registered, visit nytimes.com/passes to view your Pass eligibility and expiration timestamp at any time.

Database Access

Tulane affiliates can access historical and recent New York Times content through multiple databases that allow you to search by keyword and, in some cases, browse by issue. Please note that extent of coverage, digitization type (i.e. PDF/image scan or HTML), and search capacities vary by database.
