Stories of the Mind: Perspectives from the Tulane Neurodiverse Community

The Neurodiversity Navigators (formerly Autism Spectrum Navigators) program is built on the principles of the social justice and neurodiversity models of disability. This means that when we consider the needs of our students, we first consider the value that each brings to our community as a unique, diverse individual, and we seek to embrace this individuality by supporting each student in building on their strengths, not fixing perceived deficits. Next, we focus on finding ways to support access for our students, around systemic barriers, misunderstandings, and more.

The opportunity for universities and colleges to participate in this community of practice, contribute resources to the community and use resources from the community - ultimately facilitating greater student inclusiveness and success.

This Neurodiversity Webpage serves as a central hub for Neurodiversity-related study supports, resources, research, and courses at La Trobe. Here you can find resources including targeted support with your studies, links to relevant services such as counselling and the AccessAbility Hub, research projects and experts related to Neurodiversity, and relevant blogs, articles, and other materials which can help students to navigate university life.

Our resource guides provide contact information for ASD friendly providers, therapists, recreation leagues, state resources, and much more for different areas of the state of Louisiana.

This podcast educates about disability injustice on college campuses and shares stories submitted by our listeners regarding their experiences with discrimination while disabled.
