Systematic Reviews

Citation Management

Citation management tools are vital for organizing information while conducting a systematic review.

Citation managers are tools that allow you to collect citations, manage citations, and export citations to different tools. While you may just see the citation information, these tools collect lots of meta-data about the citations that allow for many extra functions. Many citation managers also work with Microsoft Word to allow you to easily format your citations when you get to the manuscript writing portion of your project.

Endnote

Tulane offers a campus-wide subscription to Endnote Desktop.

Endnote is optimized for use with Covidence and Rayyan- use Endnote to import your citations for title and abstract screening, and you can use the "Find Full-Text" feature to easily find the pdfs of articles needed for full-text screening.

For more information about Endnote at Tulane University, take a look at Endnote 20 guide.

Zotero

Zotero is an open-access, freely available citation manager. You do not need a subscription to use Zotero.

Zotero can be used with systematic review screening software, like Covidence and Rayyan. For more information about Zotero, see our Zotero guide.
