Acquisitions Sources

Germanic: An approval plan with Harrassowitz is utilized, which acquires German language materials on German language and literature, as well as materials on German history, philosophy, and culture. Materials on German language and literature are also acquired via the GOBI approval plan. Publication notices are also received from Harrassowitz and GOBI for consideration. Various publishers such as De Gruyter, Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, Georg Olms, Akademie Verlag etc. are sources of individual item purchases. The Library also uses subscriptions for serial publications and standing orders for monographs issued via series.

Slavic: An approval plan with the book vendor, Eastview, is utilized and some items are acquired from GOBI. Publication notices are also received from Harrassowitz. Firm orders acquire additional materials from Eastview, GOBI, and various other suppliers in North America, Europe, and the Russian Federation, when requested items are in their stock.

Selection Tools

Germanic: Reviews from Germanistik, German Quarterly, Zeitschrift fur Sprachwissenschaft, Beitrage zur Geschichte der deutschen Sprache und Literatur, Choice, etc. For both areas selection slips from book vendors, recommendations from faculty and other Tulane affiliates are considered.

Slavic: Reviews from Slavic and East European Journal, the Slavonic and East European Review, Russian Linguistics, Choice, Slavic Review, etc. 

Endowed Funds

The library has no endowed funds for Germanic and Slavic Studies at this time.
