To be clear, most GPT models like ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and Gemini are not recommended for actual scholarly searching because they may create sources that don’t exist. They can, however, be helpful assistants during the research process. Use them as your Research Assistant to:
- Narrow down your topic
- Identify keywords for better discovery of sources
- Recommend appropriate library databases
- Develop a search strategy for those databases
- Summarize or outline a text
- Explain information in a way that is easy to understand
