Hi! My name is Courtney Kearney and I’m here to support your research and instruction needs and goals in the physical sciences and data management. This means I can work with you via email, a one-on-one consultation, or through course instruction.
I was born and raised in Louisiana on the land of the Chahta Yakni (Choctaw). I then explored Georgia, Alaska, and the UK while I completed a BS, MS, and PhD in Geology (Volcanology and Remote Sensing) before returning to Louisiana to work at the NASA Stennis Space Center as a Research Oceanographer. In 2017, I joined Tulane University Libraries in order to use my knowledge of the research process to support and expand information access across campus. I strive to practice critical librarianship in an effort to dismantle systems of oppression within libraries. This means I work to educate the community on ways to shift the academy towards open access, open science, and ultimately sustainable scholarship that recognizes and challenges the sociopolitical dimensions of information and knowledge creation.
