HISL 2820: Modern Brazil (Professor Felipe Cruz)

Instructions

Part I. Search for Books in Tulane's Library Catalog

  1. Search for scholarly books on your topic in Tulane's library catalog (https://library.tulane.edu/).
  2. Add at least 1 book that looks highly relevant to your topic in the Zotero group folder. Each student must contribute a different book!

Part II. Search for Books using Worldcat

  1. Worldcat is a catalog of books that includes everything at Tulane PLUS libraries throughout the world. It also links directly to Interlibrary Loan so you can order books we don't have, and get them delivered to Howard-Tilton Library
  2. Search for a book in worldcat.org about your topic, ideally one nobody has added yet
  3. Add the book to the Zotero folder
  4. Use the Request through Item through Interlibrary Loan button to practice going through the steps to order a book through ILLiad if you ever need to

Part III. Search for Books using Google Books

  1. Google Books is a great resource because it lets you search text inside books rather than just metadata (i.e. catalogers' descriptions in library catalogs)
  2. Find a different book that is relevant to your topic through Google Books and check Worldcat to see if it is available at Tulane or not
  3. Use the Zotero extension to add the book to your folder
