Using Copyrighted Materials

In this section, you will find information on various aspects of using copyright including Fair Use, the TEACH Act, and using copyrighted material in social media. 

  • Fair use: gives users the right to use copyrighted material without permission under certain circumstances
  • Seeking permission: The permissions review, requesting, and receiving process can take time and resources
  • Using recorded music: If you want to use or post recorded music on the web or make recorded music available online, you will most likely need to obtain and pay for special licensing from the owner(s) of the music or recordings in question
