Africana Studies Library Guide

A curated selection of resources and sources on African and African diasporic culture, history, literature, and more.

Scholarly and Trusted Sites

The selected sites are of scholarly and trusted value.  As a researcher, you are responsible for evaluating sources for their research value. Consider:

  • Who has created this website? Is their work respected and trusted? What are their credentials?
  • Who is the intended audience? Is the intellectual thrust of the website appropriate to higher education?
  • What is the purpose of the website? To openly share scholarly research and intellectual knowledge production? or is it commercially driven?
  • When was the last time the site's information was updated? A site that is not well maintained may offer out of date and incorrect information.
