African Studies Library Guide

Africa Commons is a collaborative project to preserve and disseminate African cultural materials. Tulanians have access to five modules: African History and Culture, a discovery tool to search for texts, images, maps, audio, and video across thousands of worldwide collections; West African Magazines; East African Newspapers, Magazines, and Films (from the archive of Kenyan journalist, Hilary Ng'weno); Southern African Films and Documentaries; and Black South African Magazines.

Synopses of key historical topics and themes throughout the African continent. Each encyclopedia article includes overview information, a discussion of the scholarly literature, a list of key primary sources, links to digital resources, and suggestions for further reading.

Articles, books, reports, theses, and news sources indexed by African Studies organisations worldwide. Include contents from the Index to South African Periodicals, IBISCUS, the Africa Institute Database, African Journal Online, Media Africa, and NAMLIT (National Library of Namibia).
