Tulane University Libraries and WTUL are challenging students to find music already in the public domain or that will enter public domain in January 2026 and remix it into and entirely original 3-5 minute musical recording.

Submit your entry by January 14, 2026 to be entered into the community vote! Community voting for the top 3 submissions will run January 16-31. The three entries with the most votes will win special prizes and the opportunity to talk about your work on air at WTUL!

Winners will be announced on February 2, 2026.

Watch the video to learn what public domain is, how old a sound recording has to be before it enters public domain, and how to find sound recordings already in public domain.
