Following up on our published Statement on Harmful and Non-Inclusive Language in Archival Description, we created these guidelines to assist archival work for employees at Tulane University Libraries in creating conscious, inclusive description within a framework of cultural humility (Tai, 2020). These guidelines are not meant to be authoritative. We acknowledge the evolving nature of language, identity, and of archival descriptive practices.
