How long can I borrow equipment?
Up to one week.
This is a community collection, with a lot of demand throughout the year. One week loan periods are long enough for most projects and provide quick turnaround so the next person can also access the gear. If you finish early, bring it back early! We're all in this community together.
Do I need anything special to borrow a piece of equipment?
You only need your Splash card to take items out.
Given the communal nature of this collection, we strongly recommend having a solid production schedule so you can use the equipment as much as you need and still return everything on time or early. While we strive to have equipment available at all times, there may be a few weeks each semester of higher than usual demand. Having a back-up production schedule might be a really good practice.
Where do I go to check something out?
Visit Media Services the 6th floor of Howard-Tilton Memorial Library.
What are the Service Desk's hours?
Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 6pm and Sunday 12pm to 6 pm during fall and spring semesters.
Monday through Friday only, 8:30am-5:00pm during the summer months.
Like all library resources and materials, the Creative Technology Lending Collection is a shared community resource, so it’s important that items are returned on time and in the same condition they left in.
This lost equipment policy was created to ensure that everyone in our community has an opportunity to achieve their academic and creative goals through reliable access to this shared resource.
An item is considered lost under one of two conditions:
If you return the item within 7 days of receiving the lost item email notice, all associated late fees will be immediately removed from your account.
If you return the item 8 days or more after receiving the lost item email notice, then you will be billed by the bursar's office but we will work with you to remove the fine through an appeals process.
Lost Fee Schedule | |
Original Cost to the Library | Lost Fee Charged to Patron |
$10-$99 | 100% of the original cost to the library |
$100 or more | 70% of the original cost to the library |
We understand that sometimes the unforeseeable happens. We encourage you to appeal a lost fee if you think it’s warranted.
Community members who repeatedly return items extremely late, broken, or not at all risk having a block placed on their student records, which will impact class registration.
