Research Phase

The goal of research phase is to implement a methodology to gather, organize and interpret data. During this phase, you may need to:

  • explore methodologies used in the discipline(s) of study
  • identify and access data sets
  • use the special collections of Tulane libraries
  • plan a research trip to explore primary sources not owned by Tulane
  • develop statistical software use skills or other software skills
  • develop foreign language skills
  • submit research study information to the Institutional Review Board
  • develop expertise by immersing yourself in your field of research and in your specific topic

Organizing Your Literature Review

When writing your literature review you need to make decisions about how to organize and present what you've found. You also need to cite the articles, books, and other information you're reviewing.
