About LoansomeDoc Service

IMPORTANT: Loansome Doc is retiring on July 1, 2019. We will no longer offer this service after June 30, 2019.

LoansomeDoc is a document delivery service for articles indexed in PubMed requested by outside users. The Matas Library offers LoansomeDoc to library users who are unaffiliated with Tulane. The Matas Library will either fill the request from our collection or route it on to a library that can fill it. Charges range from $20-$40 per item.

LoansomeDoc requires a signed contract. A contract form is available which has information about our policies and fees. Fill out the form and return it via email to or fax: 504-988-7417 to get started. 

Mediated Search Service

Mediated database searches of PubMed or other available databases are available for for‐profit organizations not providing direct patient care.

A mediated search means a qualified medical librarian searches computerized databases for you to find information relevant to your needs.There is a fee of $40 for each individual mediated search topic.

How to Register for LoansomeDoc


1. Fill out the LoansomeDoc contract and return it to Interlibrary loan via fax or email. There is no charge to sign the agreement. Thereafter the Matas Library will be referred to as your "Ordering Library."

2. Register with Loansome Doc for PubMed: You will create an ID and password. Your ID must be your email address. Use Authorization Code LAUTUL to identify Matas Library as your LoansomeDoc provider. 

3. Register with ILLiad, the Matas Interlibrary Loan system: Use your email address as your username. Use loansome as your Library ID. Select Loansome Doc as your status.
