Transformative Open Access Publisher Agreements

Information and guidance on publisher waivers for Tulane authors' open access article publishing fees

Cambridge University Press Open Access Description

Cambridge University Press

Tulane University Libraries has a Publish and Read agreement with Cambridge University Press under which articles published by Tulane authors will now be freely available to all readers under an Open Access (OA) model. Article processing charges (APCs) typically required for OA publishing in the publisher's journals are waived.

The agreement represents a significant breakthrough in bringing Tulane’s leading-edge research to readers without restrictive paywalls or extra charges and help build new, more financially sustainable models of scholarly communication.

The 400 Cambridge journals covered span nearly all disciplines, from science, engineering, medicine, social science, and the humanities. All papers are vetted by the peer review process traditionally employed by these journals, ensuring the quality and reliability the research community has come to expect from these publishers.

If you are affiliated with Tulane University you can publish your article Open Access - at no cost - in gold and hybrid Cambridge University Press journals

  • Submit your research using your institutional affiliation (ideally using ORCID).
  • Articles submitted by eligible corresponding authors qualify for this agreement upon the date the article is accepted for publication, from or after 1 January 2021 through 31 December 2023.

Complete your OA publishing agreement

  • Once your work has been accepted, complete and submit the journal’s OA author publishing agreement and select the creative commons license which will determine how readers can use your article.

Coordinate your APC transaction

  • The service provider Rightslink, which is part of the Copyright Clearance Center, will then contact you to coordinate your APC transaction. To take advantage of this agreement, you must seek funding from your institution, following the instructions in this Guide to Paying an APC.
  • Affiliated corresponding authors are eligible to have their APC fully covered. Howard-Tilton Memorial Library has pre-paid for OA publishing as part of this agreement. Seeking funding will not impose any additional cost on your library, however final approval for OA funding may be determined by the library.
