Data Sets Collection Policy

Purchase Program

Howard-Tilton Memorial Library at Tulane University has a established a pilot Data Set Purchase Program for which the library has allocated an amount of $5,000 annually.  The purpose of the program is to encourage the appropriate use of data in research. It seeks to assist in developing a library collection with a broader range of data sets available and accessible for use by the Tulane community. 

Purchase Submission Process

The Data Purchase Program provides Tulane researchers an opportunity to recommend the purchase of research data sets directly.  Requests will be reviewed by an internal Tulane University Library committee. 


Tulane affiliates may submit requests by filling out a Data Purchase Request Form. 

Deadlines
Fall: October 15
Spring: February 15

Purchase Selection Procecess

Data set selection decisions will be made in consultation with the relevant Liaison Librarian(s), and Director of User Services and Library Information Technology (IT) and the Associate Dean of Libraries.
