Living Library at Tulane: The Power of Your Story

Information regarding Tulane's Living Library held in March 20224

Why Volunteer to be a Book?

We are looking for individuals who are interested in sharing their diverse, unique, personal, varied life stories, their perspectives on life, and/or their experiences with prejudice and stereotypes with the aim of creating awareness and understanding of others, their choices and experiences.

Living Books can be anyone with a story to share, we are hoping to have volunteer Books from all different backgrounds, interests, passions, families, life experiences, careers, geographic locations, hobbies, etc.

As a Living Book, you benefit by:

  • Sharing your unique experiences with others to promote mutual understanding
  • Breaking down barriers, real or perceived, within a local community
  • Creating awareness and challenging stereotypes
  • Forming a real connection with other members of the Tulane and New Orleans community
  • Taking control of your story and sharing it with others on your own terms
  • Receiving a custom-designed Living Book pin created by the New Orleans artist You Go Girl
  • Receive gratitude

Living Books can be anyone: students, staff, faculty members at Tulane or members from the Greater New Orleans community.
